Dead & Reborn explores the interconnectedness of life and death within nature. Inspired by Lawrence Ferlinghetti’s poem ‘A Vast Confusion’, the art project showcases the unseen processes of energy transfer and the essential role of death in sustaining life. Illustrating how the energy from a dead tree is absorbed by surrounding plants, the cardboard sculpture and the pen and ink drawing highlight the underground root system as the lifeblood of the natural world.
The artworks aims to challenge viewers’ perceptions of death and decay, presenting them as essential components of a healthy and vibrant environment. By highlighting the unseen connections and energy flows that encompass life and death, Dead & Reborn celebrates the beauty and complexity of nature.
